It's a damp grey day here so I am tucked up with my craft stuff and have been busy sewing and crocheting, so I have had a couple more products to add here. One of which is this applique wall décor featuring the poem 'And they stayed home' by Kitty O' Meara. Poignant words for which I shall keep on our wall as a keepsake

Well, I've finally set up this website! The Covid-19 lockdown has meant we've not been able to do many things we'd like to, however it has meant that I've had plenty of time on my hands for crafting. I love to crochet and sew, and 'Apple Rose & Cotton' is and idea I have had for a while as an outlet for my crafting activities. In the past few weeks I came across this poem by Kitty O'Meara and it really struck a chord when I read it. I have been home-schooling the mini-griffins. We have been reading, we have played games, we have done yoga, made art, and it seems spending more time at home has meant that one new choice I've made is to finally make time to build this website and start setting up this small business. So here we are! So, I suppose in this my first post I should introduce myself, hello my name is Mary-Ann. I am mum to Isabelle and James; wife to Dan. We live in the Amber Valley in Derbyshire and from this website I will be offering for sale items that I have made for the home: both décor and things to help with living an eco-friendly lifestyle. I am making many changes to my family's day-to-day lifestyle to turn it into a more environmentally friendly one - mostly by making lots of little changes. Some of these are by switching from using single-use, disposable (often plastic) products to more sustainable re-usable ones. Some of these I make myself and those I will be offering them for sale on here. My crocheted items are usually made from 100% cotton yarn that is made in the UK. My sewing items are usually made from cotton or bamboo fabric, unless I have sourced some vintage or scrap fabric that I can upcycle. The embroidery frames I use are made from bamboo - one of the most sustainable materials we can use. I try not to use plastic at all. I use recycled, eco-friendly paper. I try to source as much of my material as possible from local, independent businesses. And that's me! This website is very much a work in progress. I shall be making, photographing and uploading new lines over the next few weeks. I have lots of ideas, but not quite as many free minutes or hours to make them as I'd like, but I'll get them done in time!
In the meantime if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch, I'd love to hear from you. |
